Writing A Book Is The Easy Part... Deciding to write a book is easy. Today, becoming a self published author is possible thanks to technology that has made printing books fast, and inexpensive. Not only is it affordable, it's also one of the most life fulfilling and profitable things you could do for yourself and the audience you're writing the book for. Also bringing your book to life is no longer solely in the hands of big publishing companies who are indifferent to the message you're trying to deliver, or too overwhelmed with the hundreds of unsolicited manuscripts they receive each day to even give your book a fair shot. There has never been a better time to write your book. But knowing exactly...
... is a little more difficult to figure out. Especially if you don't consider yourself a writer or you've never attempted a project such as writing a book before. The truth is, writing a book is the easy part. But, the biggest barrier to getting your book completed is YOU. Maybe not intentionally, but without the right information, writing a book could be time consuming, costly and difficult. There are many tasks, large and small that must be executed correctly and in a timely fashion in order for your publishing efforts to be successful. This includes, in no particular order...
I could go on and on... But let's face it...
Even If You Know What To Do Like most aspiring authors you may have attended a seminar to get some direction on how to start and complete your book project. The information presented sounded good, but details on how to put those ideas into effect were vague, tedious, completely undoable, and/or too expensive by your (and most seminar attendees) standards and expertise level. Perhaps you've purchased a book or manual that you thought had all of the answers and you committed to read it. Your intentions were good, but "life happened." Now this information sits on a shelf next to all the other info-products, books and e-books that were supposed to help you write your book. You may have even gotten as far as developing a relationship with a mentor or coach. But after a few months you were no closer to accomplishing your goals, completing your book or leaning how to promote it than you were when you started. Now, because you've gotten so overwhelmed with the tons of information available to you, you haven't spent the necessary time and energy on what really needs to be done. Even worse... you've become mentally paralyzed and do absolutely nothing! But that's only half the story...
Authors (new and seasoned) have developed a false belief that once their book is written the hard part is... Done. Over. Finished. That can't be further from the truth. The fact is... No matter who you are, or what type of marketing expertise you have, you'll have to be more creative than ever to sell your books. If you've self published your book you may feel as if you have to struggle to get the recognition and sales that you desire. And just because your book is published by a major book publisher doesn't guarantee that you'll be on your way to the top of the best seller charts either. I've heard horror stories about authors mortgaging their homes, running up lines-of-credit, maxing out their credit cards and ending up with huge piles of debt. Totally disillusioned, about how to succeed in the publishing business, they're still sitting with a living room full of books and falsely believing that "self publishing doesn't work." Self publishing can be very profitable...if you know what your doing. Your production costs are low and the profit margins are high. But without proper promotion, self publishing (or any other business for that matter) will seem like a costly mistake. Promotion of your book should start the moment you've settled on a title. Too many authors are afraid that someone will "steal" their title and don't want to share any information about their books before it's complete and ready for sale. This is a BIG mistake because marketing requires momentum and the way you achieve momentum is by getting the word out early and often. Here's a fact: book titles can't be copyrighted, so don't waste your time believing that you're "protecting" your title by keeping it a secret.
If You Have A Book, But Did Not Begin Promoting It, Don't Start Until You Read This! And If You Already Started Promoting Your Book Just Keep Reading! Your book is not for everyone. Although "everyone" may be potentially interested in your book, or your book may be helpful to "everyone", "everyone" is not going to buy your book! Besides, you can't afford to market to everyone. Before you begin promoting your book you must be clear about who will most likely pull out their money and purchase your book. Identifying your target market is the single most important element to writing and promoting a book that will allow you to achieve the sales you desire. To get what you want from your book
promotion efforts you must know EXACTLY what you want. I don't mean
vague goals like, "I want to be famous," or "I want to sell lots of
books," but very specific goals. What is your definition of "famous?" What
amount of books sales would you consider "a lot?"
... will be necessary to support you in achieving your goals. Don't allow yourself to be fooled (or frustrated) into believing that all your promotional efforts will pay off overnight or even after one or two attempts. Your message must seen and/or heard an average of 7 to 11 times before the person who sees and hears it takes action. Every marketing action, if done correctly, will yield some positive result. The key to successful marketing is to make sure what you're doing is going to accomplish specifically what you want to get done and in the amount of time you want (or need) it to pay off. So when you're setting your sights on making book sales, you'll need a marketing plan that has:
A healthy mixture of optimism and persistence is necessary

Learn To Write With Ease, Publish Painlessly, Let me introduce myself. I'm Sanyika Calloway Boyce. Speaker, Author and Book Coach. I've been EXACTLY where you are... In fact, just a few years ago I was highly frustrated and nearly broke. I couldn't figure out what was "wrong" with me. I mean, I had all of the "stuff" that was supposed to make me super successful as an Author and Speaker...So why hadn't I made a fraction of the money that I needed to cover the printing, shipping and promotion of my book? I knew I was smart, but why couldn't I figure out how to make all of the pieces fit together? All my wanting, wishing and hoping wouldn't cut it. It wasn't even good enough to have the "know how" or all the resources that promised to show me how because I didn't have the main ingredient... And it took me more than 8 months to figure out what was missing... After looking for "the answer" and spinning my wheels, I realized that I needed help. I needed AN ACCOUNTABLE ACTION PLAN. I needed someone who had been there, done that and was prepared to support me through the necessary transition from idea to action. I needed a plan to sell my books and make my publishing business profitable. And I found exactly what I needed in a coaching relationship. With the help of my coach I stretched and challenged myself to focus on where I wanted to be, not where I was.
